The Opportunity

An established multi-disciplinary construction consultancy is looking for a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its City of London office.

The team works across a broad mix of sectors, including commercial, education, hotels, leisure, healthcare and culture and heritage. One interesting project currently underway is a large film studio development, giving a flavour of the variety of work within the practice.

This offers the opportunity to broaden your project experience, work directly with clients and take responsibility for cost management from early budgets through to final accounts. The level of responsibility will reflect your experience, with support available from senior colleagues and scope to progress.

The Role

You’ll work alongside quantity surveyors, project managers and other consultancy colleagues, delivering cost advice throughout the project lifecycle.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing budget estimates and detailed cost plans

• Producing bills of quantities and tender documentation

• Advising on procurement routes and evaluating tenders

• Undertaking interim valuations and preparing cost reports

• Managing variations and assessing contractor claims

• Negotiating and agreeing final accounts

• Presenting advice and project updates directly to clients

• Coordinating with project teams to manage costs and commercial risks

At Senior Surveyor level, you’ll also lead instructions and support less experienced colleagues.

Candidate Profile

• Quantity surveying experience within a consultancy environment

• MRICS qualified, working towards chartership or bringing substantial relevant experience

• A sound understanding of construction contracts, procurement and cost management

• Clear communication and report-writing skills

• Confidence working with clients and professional teams

• The ability to manage several projects accurately and effectively

Experience across different sectors would be welcome, but you do not need to have worked in every area the consultancy covers.

Package

Salary is up to £75,000, depending on experience and level, alongside a benefits package and hybrid working.
