GVR Solutions are working with a growing specialist joinery contractor delivering high-quality joinery fit out packages across residential, commercial, education, healthcare, and mixed-use developments throughout London and the South East. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, they are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.

Responsibilities of the Quantity Surveyor:

  • Prepare, submit, and negotiate interim valuations and applications for payment.
  • Monitor project costs, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow.
  • Produce accurate cost value reconciliations (CVRs) on a monthly basis.
  • Identify commercial risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Manage project variations, change control processes, and compensation events.
  • Prepare and agree final accounts with clients and main contractors.
  • Review and administer contracts including JCT forms and bespoke subcontract agreements.
  • Ensure contractual compliance and protect the company's commercial position.
  • Manage notices, extensions of time, loss and expense claims, and contractual correspondence where required.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, main contractors, consultants, and supply chain partners.
  • Attend project meetings and provide commercial support to operational teams.
  • Work collaboratively with site teams to ensure commercial and operational objectives are aligned.
  • Present project performance updates and financial forecasts.
  • Provide strategic commercial input to support business planning and growth.

Requirements of the Quantity Surveyor:

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
  • Experience working for a specialist subcontractor, ideally within carpentry, joinery, fit-out, interiors, or related trades.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, particularly JCT forms.
  • Excellent knowledge of valuations, variations, CVRs, subcontract management, and final accounts.
  • Strong commercial awareness and financial acumen.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
