We are working with an established civil engineering and rail contractor based in Welwyn Garden City, delivering a range of infrastructure and civil engineering projects across the rail sector.
Due to continued growth and a strong project pipeline, they are looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor with a background in civil engineering, rail, infrastructure or construction to take ownership of commercial activities across a range of projects, working closely with project delivery teams, clients and supply chain partners.
The Role
As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing the commercial and contractual aspects of projects from procurement through to final account.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing the commercial performance of allocated civil and rail projects.
- Preparing, reviewing and managing project budgets and forecasts.
- Subcontract procurement, tendering and package management.
- Preparing and submitting applications for payment.
- Managing variations, compensation events and change control.
- Monitoring project costs, valuations, accruals and cash flow.
- Producing monthly commercial reports and cost/value reconciliations.
- Managing subcontractor accounts and payments.
- Reviewing and agreeing subcontractor variations and final accounts.
- Supporting the preparation and submission of commercial and contractual claims.
- Working closely with Project Managers and site teams to maximise project performance.
- Maintaining accurate commercial records and ensuring contractual obligations are met.
- Building effective relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
About You
We are looking for a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor who is comfortable working in a fast-paced project environment and has a strong understanding of civil engineering or rail construction.
Ideally, you will have:
- Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering, rail, infrastructure or construction.
- Strong knowledge of commercial and contractual processes.
- Experience managing subcontractors and supply chain accounts.
Salary is upto £55,000 + pkg
