Registered Manager – Children's Home

Salary: £60,000 per annum | Full-time | Permanent

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Registered Manager to lead our new children's residential home, in Oldbury.

This home will provide a nurturing, therapeutic and trauma-informed environment for children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties. Our approach is rooted in PACE (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy), relationship-based practice and a strong commitment to safeguarding and positive outcomes.

The Role

As Registered Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day management, leadership and development of the home, ensuring that children receive safe, consistent and high-quality care.

You will:

  • Lead and develop a motivated and skilled residential childcare team.
  • Ensure the home consistently meets Ofsted and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote a strong safeguarding culture and ensure children are protected from harm.
  • Ensure care is child-centred, trauma-informed and underpinned by PACE principles.
  • Oversee care planning, risk assessments, placement planning and children's outcomes.
  • Develop positive relationships with children, families and professionals.
  • Work closely with social workers, placing authorities, education and health professionals.
  • Manage recruitment, induction, supervision, training and performance of staff.
  • Ensure effective staffing, rotas and operational arrangements.
  • Monitor incidents, safeguarding concerns, complaints and children's progress.
  • Lead quality assurance and continuous improvement within the home.
  • Build positive relationships with commissioners and partner agencies.
  • Ensure the home is well prepared for Ofsted inspection and maintains high standards of practice.
  • Create a positive culture where staff are supported, accountable and committed to achieving the best outcomes for children.
About You

We are looking for a confident and compassionate leader who understands that children's residential care is about relationships, consistency and trust.

You will ideally have:

  • At least 2 years' relevant residential childcare experience within the last 5 years.
  • At least 1 year of experience supervising or managing care staff.
  • Experience managing safeguarding and child protection.
  • Strong knowledge of children's residential care and the Quality Standards.
  • Experience leading and developing a residential childcare team.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and decision-making skills.
  • A strong understanding of trauma-informed and therapeutic practice.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with children and professionals.
  • A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people.
  • The ability to lead with both compassion and accountability.
Experience managing an Ofsted-registered children's home, opening a new service, working with children with complex needs, or implementing PACE/trauma-informed practice would be highly desirable.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Homes at the beginning of our journey and play a key role in building from the ground up.

You will have the opportunity to shape the culture, develop the team and establish a home where children feel safe, valued, heard and supported to thrive.

We are looking for someone who doesn't simply want to manage a home — but wants to help build something exceptional.
