Residential Building Surveyor

Girling Jones Ltd

Residential Building Surveyor

The Company

If high survey volumes, constant targets and rushed reports are getting in the way of doing the job properly, this independent Devon consultancy offers a different approach.
Established five years ago by two former Partners, the business has grown into a respected Residential Surveys & Valuations practice with a straightforward philosophy: prioritise quality over quantity.
Surveyors are given realistic workloads, trusted to manage their own time and supported by a team that genuinely values work-life balance. With a target of just five surveys per week, there’s time to inspect properties properly, produce detailed reports and give clients the level of service they expect.
They’re now looking for an experienced Residential Building Surveyor to join the team on a fully remote basis.

The Role

As a Residential Building Surveyor, you’ll manage your own workload from home, primarily completing RICS Level 2 and Level 3 Surveys.
Alongside your core surveying work, there’s also the opportunity to broaden your involvement across:
  • Client liaison before and after property inspections
  • Desktop surveys
  • New-build snagging
  • Small project management assignments
It’s an autonomous role offering plenty of flexibility and variety, without the pressure of an unrealistic survey schedule.

About You

You’ll already have experience within residential surveying and be comfortable managing inspections, reporting and client communication independently.

For this Residential Building Surveyor position, you’ll need:
  • AssocRICS, MRICS or FRICS status
  • Experience completing RICS Level 2 and/or Level 3 Surveys
  • Strong IT skills and confidence using digital reporting systems
  • A full UK driving licence
  • A professional approach to client communication
  • A focus on producing thorough, high-quality survey reports
Above all, you’ll want to work somewhere that measures success by the standard of your work rather than simply the number of surveys completed.
What’s In It For You?
  • £50,000 - £55,000 salary
  • £4,200 car allowance
  • Commission once you exceed five surveys per week
  • Private healthcare
  • 25 days holiday
  • Fully remote working
  • Professional fees paid
  • Laptop, phone and home-office equipment provided
  • Ongoing CPD and career development
  • A realistic target of just five surveys per week
If you’re a Residential Building Surveyor looking to move away from high-volume corporate surveying and want the time, flexibility and autonomy to concentrate on delivering quality work, apply today for a confidential conversation.
