Residential Care Practitioner – Children’s Residential Homes (Derby)

We are currently recruiting for Residential Care Practitioners to join our children’s residential homes in Derby, supporting young people with emotional and behavioural needs in a safe and supportive environment.

Role Overview

You will provide day-to-day care and support to young people, helping to create a stable, positive environment that promotes their development and wellbeing.

Key Requirements

  • Must hold one of the following:
    • Level 4 Children, Young People & Families Practitioner
    • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare
    • Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care
  • Minimum 1 year experience working with children (not early years)
  • Experience in residential care or youth work (EBD experience advantageous)
  • Full UK driving licence (essential)

Working Pattern

  • Approx. 56.5 hours per week (including sleep-ins)
  • Shift pattern:
    • 08:00–23:00 + sleep
    • Morning handover the following day (08:00–08:30)
  • 3-week rolling rota
  • Approx. 10 shifts per month
  • Includes training and team meetings (approx. 244.5 hours/month total)
