Residential Support Worker – Children's Residential Care

Location: Workington, Cumbria
Salary: £12.71 – £13.85 per hour, depending on experience
Sleep-in Rate: £55 per sleep-in
Shift Pattern: 2 days on, 4 days off
Home: 3-bed Children's Residential Home

We are recruiting for an experienced Residential Support Worker to join an established children's residential home in Workington, Cumbria.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous experience in children's residential care who is passionate about making a genuine difference to the lives of children and young people.

The home is a small 3-bed children's home supporting children and young people with Learning Disabilities (LD) and Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). The service is OFSTED regulated and committed to providing safe, nurturing and high-quality care.

The Role

As a Residential Support Worker, you will play an important role in supporting children and young people to feel safe, build confidence and develop their independence.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing high-quality, child-centred care and support
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with children and young people
  • Supporting daily routines, activities and appointments
  • Encouraging independence and positive outcomes
  • Supporting young people with emotional and behavioural needs
  • Completing accurate daily records and documentation
  • Working closely with colleagues and other professionals
  • Promoting safeguarding and ensuring the welfare of children and young people at all times

About You

Previous experience working within children's residential care is essential for this position.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Experience working within a children's residential home
  • Experience supporting children and young people with LD and/or EBD
  • A caring, resilient and patient approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A good understanding of safeguarding and child-centred practice
  • Flexibility to work the required 2 on, 4 off shift pattern, including sleep-ins

Qualifications

An NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People's Residential Care is highly desirable but not essential.

Candidates without the qualification will still be considered where they have the required experience within children's residential care.
