Estimating Sales Manager – Fabrication

Salary: Up to £50,000 basic (Neg DOE) + Profit Share and Serious Earning Potential on Multi-Million £ Projects.

Based: Darwen, Lancashire- Occasional travel to customer sites.

At WEC Group, one of the UK’s leading multi-award-winning engineering and fabrication companies, we’re growing fast—and we’re looking for a commercially minded Sales Estimating Manager to grow with us.

Role:

You’ll confidently take ownership of complex fabrication enquiries, leading the estimating process and turning opportunities into profitable work.

You’ll be at the heart of the commercial process—working closely with customers, suppliers, Sales, and internal teams to develop accurate, competitive estimates and win major projects.

You’ll also manage and support a team of 2–3 Estimators, providing guidance, reviewing estimates, and ensuring the team delivers high-quality work on time.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and support a team of 2–3 Estimators, allocating workloads and monitoring performance.
  • Oversee accurate and competitive estimates, quotations, and tenders.
  • Review estimates for pricing, margins, scope, and commercial accuracy.
  • Provide coaching, training, and technical support to the estimating team.
  • Work closely with Sales, Commercial, and Operations teams to meet customer requirements and deadlines.
  • Producing accurate, competitive estimates from technical drawings
  • Building detailed costings (materials, labour, routing)
  • Liaising with suppliers and managing subcontract pricing
  • Preparing and submitting quotations for high-value projects
  • Supporting customers with technical queries and solutions
  • Working with production and operations teams to ensure smooth delivery

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong fabrication/engineering background (ideally time-served)
  • Proven ability to read and interpret technical drawings and RFQs
  • Experience in estimating, technical sales, or account management
  • Track record of handling high-value work (circa £1M+ projects)
  • Confident communicator with a commercial mindset
  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior estimators

Working Hours:

Week 1: Mon–Fri 8am–5pm

Week 2: Mon–Thurs 8am–5pm, Fri 8am–2pm
