Sales Specialist – chemistry/characterisation

Territory:                South UK (home office/field based with regular travel)

Salary:                   up to £50,000 plus car and bonus/commission (~£15K)

Our client is a globally recognised manufacturer of high-precision laboratory instrumentation, supplying analytical, characterisation and in-process monitoring equipment to research, quality control and industrial laboratories across a broad range of scientific sectors. The organisation has an established reputation for quality and aspire to be leaders & innovators in all their markets which includes pharmaceutical, chemical, polymer, academic, food, environmental and advanced materials laboratories.

On of their leading product ranges is their materials characterisation portfolio and they have an exciting opportunity for somebody to join the team to cover the South UK. Focusing efforts in the Ox-Camb-London area, the successful candidate will be working with an established and loyal customer base to maintain the very highest levels of customer service and support, always looking to identify to grow revenues within existing customer accounts. You will also network the territory, looking to identify new business opportunities within academia and industry and using a strong technical consultative approach with a hunter instinct to develop and close new sales opportunities.

Roles & responsibilities:

  • To protect, support and grow revenues within your existing accounts
  • Identify, nurture, develop and close new business opportunities across academic and industry markets
  • Deploy strong territory management plans, identifying high value target accounts and implementing a sales strategy of capitalise on opportunities within these accounts; whilst still maintaining regular contact with existing key accounts and making point contacts with all other accounts/prospects
  • Maintain regular Market Intelligence, competitor monitors and market trends, identifying opportunities to position the company at the forefront of market
  • Work with internal colleagues to support the overall performance of the territory and provide the highest level of support to customers

About you:

  • Degree qualified in Chemistry, material science/characterisation or polymers
  • Good knowledge of material characterisation and analytical techniques
  • Proven sales experience/competencies, ideally of UK scientific lab sales environment; but transferable skills will also be considered but must be clearly defined on the CV
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
  • UK driving licence with RTW in the UK
