BMSL require an Security Supervisor (Construction Site) for an ongoing contract on a construction site in Port Talbot .
Summary of role
As a Security Officer you are responsible for protecting premises, assets and personnel as well as maintaining a secure and safe environment for visitors, staff and contractors. You need to always maintain a highly visible presence and prevent any illegal or inappropriate actions. In addition to playing an active role in incident response as instructed by Supervisors. Your goal is to detect, deter, protect, observe and report.
Main responsibilities
To manage a team of 6 other security officers, and to ensure all the below is in place.
Provide a highly visible proactive security presence on all SRM area site gates, with emphasis on access and egress controls.
To support the client and Wilson James teams during any emergencies on site.
Monitor of Fire & Security alarm system panel with a weekly test of the fire alarm system.
Weekly audits of welfare fire points-first aid units-defibs.
To manage the enrolment of persons onto the facial recognition system.
To operate internal / external security patrols on a regular basis ensuring familiarity of site layout, building and processes.
Upkeep of key logbook and other administrative tasks pertaining to the security/reception desk and workload activities – archiving daily paperwork, clear reporting writing, IT movement, records, etc
Meet and greet visitors, staff in a professional and polite manner, advise and direct and support reception staff during sign in/out process and assist as requested by the Supervisor
Detect and deter unauthorized activity throughout the SRM sites and report any suspicious persons immediately to the Supervisor.
Perform reception duties as set out in assignment instructions.
Perform logistical service duties as set out in assignment instructions.
Be fully conversant with the layout of the site and be aware of threats and challenges faced by the site.
Booking delivery vehicles on/off site using the Datascope tablets in the vehicle holding areas.
Be fully conversant with emergency evacuation procedures.
Location.
Ensure fire routes and exits used by staff and visitors are clear from any obstructions and safe to use.
Check and report any hazards identified to the WJ Project Manager.
Report all incidents and unusual events to the WJ Project Manager.
To prevent loss, damage and theft of assets by carrying out security as set out in assignment instructions.
To ensure that your SIA Licence is always on display while at work.
To efficiently respond to alarms as requested by the onsite supervisor.
To play an integral role in any emergency including evacuation, dealing with antisocial behaviour, first aid incidents (or assistance to trained first aiders)
Any additional reasonable duties requested by operational management.
FIRE
Raise the alarm via call point if you discover a fire in a building
Ensure Emergency Services have been contacted
Follow Local Response plans for Muster procedures and Emergency Services attending site.

Ensure you have received the required training prior to commencing works
Ensure that you are working in accordance with the safe system of works, as briefed by your Line Manager
Ensure that you are fit for work prior to reporting for duty each day
Report any health and safety concerns to your line manager
Once Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) has been issued ensure that you always keep it serviceable and report any defects to your line manager
Always ensure while at work you are wearing the correct PPE
If you are operating machinery/plant/vehicles, you must operate safely in accordance with the instruction and training provided

First Aider Health and Safety responsibilities
All First Aiders must complete an accredited First Aid at Work training course and provide first aid in accordance with training provided and attend a refresher training course every 3 year - all First Aiders shall:
Respond promptly to all requests for assistance
Summon further help when necessary (emergency services)
Look after the casualty until recovery has taken place or further medical assistance has arrived
Report details of any treatment administered
Ensure Wilson James Accident Report Book is completed
Fire Marshall/ Warden Health and Safety responsibilities
All Fire Marshalls / Wardens must complete an accredited Fire Marshall / Warden training course and Fire Marshall / Warden duties in accordance with training provided.
