Salary: £100–£101.80 per day, dependent on experience and qualifications
Contract: Full-time, long-term temporary
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:45am–3:45pm
Start Date: 21 September 2026

Teach Now is recruiting for eight SEN Learning Support Assistant vacancies at a specialist school supporting children and young people aged 2–19 with severe and complex learning difficulties. Opportunities are available across both primary and secondary phases.

This is a rewarding opportunity to join a growing specialist team and help pupils develop their communication, confidence, independence and essential life skills. Approximately 80% of pupils are autistic, so calm, consistent and relationship-focused support is central to the role.

The Role

As a SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will:

• Provide individual and small-group support across the school day.
• Help pupils access learning and develop greater independence.
• Support communication, social interaction and emotional regulation.
• Follow individual support plans and positive behaviour strategies.
• Assist pupils with practical activities and essential life skills.
• Provide personal care respectfully and maintain pupils dignity.
• Support pupils during hydrotherapy sessions and physical-development activities.
• Work closely with teachers and the wider specialist support team.
• Help maintain a calm, structured and encouraging learning environment.

About You

The ideal SEN Learning Support Assistant will be:

• Patient, compassionate, resilient and dependable.
• Passionate about supporting children and young people with SEND.
• Confident working with autistic pupils and following individual strategies.
• Comfortable providing personal care as an essential part of the role.
• Willing to support hydrotherapy activities.
• A strong communicator who works well as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Previous specialist-school experience is welcomed but not essential. Candidates with relevant experience in education, care, youth work, healthcare or other support settings are also encouraged to apply.
