SEND Teaching Assistant – Visual Impairment (VI) Support

PK Education are recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to support students with visual impairments within a specialist provision attached to a secondary school in the Huddersfield area.

This is a full-time, long-term opportunity starting in September and would suit an individual who is passionate about supporting young people with additional needs to access education and achieve their full potential.

The Role:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to students with visual impairments.
  • Supporting students both within mainstream lessons and specialist provision areas.
  • Assisting with the adaptation of learning resources to meet individual needs.
  • Promoting independence, confidence and engagement across the curriculum.
  • Working closely with teaching staff, SEND professionals and external agencies.
  • Supporting students with social, emotional and academic development.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND.
  • An understanding of visual impairment and the barriers students may face within education.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A patient, nurturing and adaptable approach.
  • Experience within schools, SEND settings, care, support work or youth work would be advantageous.

Requirements:

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Satisfactory references covering the previous two years.
  • - Competitive rates of pay from £98  to £110  per day(AWR compliant)
