Senior Manufacturing Engineer - Electrical
Swansea

Yolk Recruitment is exclusively partnered with this leading manufacturing business in the recruitment of a Senior Manufacturing Engineer with a strong electrical bias to take a leading role in delivering major equipment, automation and CapEx projects.

The company is a long-standing market leader with continued growth and a significant programme of investment in new equipment and automation. With further projects planned over the coming years, this role will take a lead position in delivering that investment across the manufacturing operation.

You'll lead major equipment projects from initial concept and specification, through supplier selection, build, installation, commissioning and production handover. You'll also provide technical leadership to Manufacturing Engineers and remain close enough to the equipment to provide practical support where required.

The role is focused on projects rather than day to day reactive engineering, giving you the opportunity to take genuine ownership of significant CapEx and automation projects and contribute towards driving engineering improvements throughout manufacturing.

This is what you'll be doing as Senior Manufacturing Engineer

  • Lead major equipment, automation and CapEx projects from initial concept through to production handover
  • Develop equipment specifications and RFQs and support the selection of appropriate equipment and suppliers
  • Manage UK and international equipment suppliers
  • Lead design reviews, FAT, installation, SAT, commissioning and equipment acceptance
  • Take ownership of project timing, cost, technical risk, documentation and actions
  • Work closely with the Automation team on controls, I/O, sensors, drives, safety circuits and machine interfaces
  • Provide practical electrical support including wiring, panel modifications and equipment installation where required
  • Provide structured fault finding and technical support on complex production equipment
  • Support Manufacturing Engineers, helping to prioritise workload and develop team capability
  • Support NPI and the transfer of new products and processes into manufacturing
  • Identify opportunities to improve automation, equipment reliability, productivity and yield

The experience you'll bring to the Senior Manufacturing Engineer role

  • A strong electrical bias and practical understanding of industrial electrical systems
  • Experience working with automated production equipment or special purpose machinery
  • Experience leading equipment/CapEx projects from specification through to commissioning
  • Experience working with controls, sensors, drives, I/O, safety circuits and machine interfaces
  • Experience producing specifications or RFQs and working directly with equipment suppliers

And what you'll get in return

  • Competitive salary, disclosed on application
  • Annual salary review
  • Company pension
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays
  • Flexible working patterns
  • Career development opportunities
