Salary: c£75,000-£85,000 basic (DOE) plus competitive package inc car allowance, healthcare, pension, performance bonus.

Company & Project: A successful tier 1 main contractor operating across Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and the surrounding region are currently looking to grow their commercial team with a Senior Quantity Surveyor.

Our client has a busy order book and especially in the local market across multiple sectors including Defence.

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be working on projects in the Defence sector valued at c£2m-£10m, with a pipeline of future work including larger projects valued over £50m.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Leading end-to-end supply chain procurement, including scope definition, subcontractor selection, and tender reconciliation.

Managing project budgets throughout the design phase in line with strict client constraints.

Proactively identifying cost-saving opportunities and alternative construction methods without compromising quality or compliance.

Quantifying and managing commercial risks tailored to defence and sensitive site environments.

Coordinating with the design team to manage subcontractor fees and design liabilities.

Carrying out day-to-day commercial management, including measurements, valuations, payment applications, and account reconciliations.

Administering subcontract orders and enquiries through to practical completion and final account settlement.

Previous experience on projects c£2m-£10m as Number 1 QS is essential for this position.

Desirable Experience:

• Minimum 7-10 years+ experience as a Quantity Surveyor working for a Main Contractor.
• Excellent negotiation skills and previous experience procuring subcontractors.
• Experience working within secure/Defence environments would be advantageous but not essential.
• Previous Roles: Senior Quantity Surveyor OR Project QS OR Quantity Surveyor OR Commercial Manager OR Senior Cost Manager OR Managing Quantity Surveyor.

Qualifications & Skills: Degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management or comparable qualification including HNC, BTEC, NVQ or MSc.
