About the Opportunity
An established Irish Main Contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team on a hyperscale data centre project in Northumberland.
This is a rare opportunity to work on one of the UK's largest and most significant mission-critical developments. The scheme represents a multi-billion-pound investment and will be delivered over several phases, offering long-term career stability and exposure to cutting-edge construction methodologies within the rapidly growing data centre sector.
The Role
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Senior Quantity Surveyor will take ownership of the commercial and contractual management of major work packages, ensuring projects are delivered safely, profitably, and in line with client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation and management of monthly valuations and payment applications.
- Commercial management of subcontractor packages, including procurement, valuations, variations, and final accounts.
- Cost reporting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Identification and management of commercial risks and opportunities.
- Review and administration of contract documentation.
- Negotiation and agreement of variations, claims, and final accounts.
- Preparation of detailed financial reports for senior management.
- Liaison with site, design, procurement, and project delivery teams.
- Support the successful commercial delivery of a large-scale mission-critical construction project.
- Mentor and support junior members of the commercial team.
Requirements
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- Minimum 7 years' experience within the construction industry.
- Previous experience with a main contractor.
- Strong background delivering large-scale construction projects.
- Data centre, pharmaceutical, industrial, advanced manufacturing, or major infrastructure experience would be advantageous.
- Excellent contractual and commercial awareness.
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficient in commercial reporting and cost management systems.
- Ability to work within a fast-paced and technically challenging environment.
