Salary: £75,000 + £5,000 Car Allowance
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week

Overview:

First Military Recruitment is proudly working in partnership with a fantastic national construction business who are looking to recruit a Senior Site Engineer on a permanent basis due to growth based at their Cumbria depot.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Project Delivery & Site Coordination
  • Manage and coordinate all construction and engineering activities within your area of responsibility.
  • Lead, mentor and support junior engineers and technical staff.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and third-party stakeholders to ensure safe and efficient delivery of works.
  • Plan and manage site activities in conjunction with construction and supervision teams.
  • Produce and maintain detailed rolling three-week look-ahead programmes.
  • Monitor progress against programme and implement corrective actions where necessary.
  • Identify risks, constraints and opportunities that may impact project delivery.
  • Ensure all permits, task briefings, inductions and approvals are in place before works commence.
  • Support collaborative working across all project functions.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
  • Raise and manage Technical Queries (TQs) to resolve design issues or incomplete information.
  • Ensure works are delivered in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and project requirements.
  • Maintain detailed technical knowledge of your area of responsibility.
  • Provide engineering support to construction teams and subcontractors.
  • Support the development and implementation of temporary works solutions.
  • Ensure temporary works are installed, maintained and dismantled in accordance with approved designs and procedures.
  • Commercial & Resource Management
  • Identify material requirements and coordinate procurement activities.
  • Monitor stock levels and arrange replenishment to support planned works.
  • Record actual material and resource usage against planned allocations.
  • Identify wastage, inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain awareness of subcontractor scopes of work and monitor performance.
  • Identify and report changes, delays and variations to project and commercial teams.
  • Produce, manage and gain approval for Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Ensure all quality documentation and construction records are maintained accurately.
  • Monitor compliance with project specifications and quality requirements.
  • Raise and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) where required.
  • Support audits, inspections and assurance activities.
  • Promote a right-first-time culture across all site activities.
  • Promote the highest standards of health, safety and environmental performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements, project procedures and company policies.
  • Report and investigate incidents, near misses and non-conformances.
  • Support risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
  • Ensure all personnel work in accordance with approved procedures and permits.
  • Actively contribute to a positive safety culture throughout the project.
  • Maintain accurate records of progress, resources, changes and site issues.
  • Contribute to project reporting and performance reviews.
  • Ensure project records are maintained within document control systems.
  • Provide progress updates to project management and commercial teams.
  • Support the preparation of project reports and performance data.


Skills and Experience:

  • Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience as a Site Engineer or Senior Site Engineer on major construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Previous experience within the Nuclear sector is essential.
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies and engineering principles.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multiple work fronts.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance procedures, inspection regimes and compliance requirements.
  • Strong planning, organisational and communication skills.
  • Experience producing engineering documentation and project records.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Ability to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC)
