Join a Cambridge‑based team developing next‑generation insulin pump systems that genuinely improve patient lives. We’re looking for a Senior or Staff‑level Firmware Engineer to lead the design and development of safety‑critical embedded software, shaping both the technical direction and the quality framework that underpins a regulated medical device environment.
The Opportunity
You’ll take ownership of firmware development for a new class of insulin delivery technology, working at the intersection of engineering, quality, and regulatory compliance. A key success marker in your first year will be establishing robust firmware lifecycle processes and ensuring audit‑ready documentation and practices.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading development of safety‑critical firmware for insulin pump systems
- Defining and improving firmware lifecycle processes, documentation, and audit readiness
- Working closely with Quality, Regulatory, and Systems Engineering teams
- Ensuring compliance with IEC 62304, ISO 13485, and medical device development standards
- Contributing to architecture, design reviews, risk management, and verification activities
- Mentoring engineers and supporting best‑practice adoption across the team
- 5+ years of hands‑on embedded firmware development
- Experience in regulated or safety‑critical domains (medical devices preferred but not essential)
- Strong understanding of structured development processes and documentation
- Familiarity with IEC 62304, ISO 13485, or similar compliance frameworks
- Ability to collaborate effectively with Quality & Regulatory teams
- A proactive mindset and confidence in leading technical direction
- Work on technology that directly improves patient outcomes
- Influence engineering processes and shape long‑term firmware strategy
