Senior Technical Building Safety Manager - Croydon Council
Adecco Public Sector is proud to be working with Croydon Council as they seek to recruit a number of permanent roles into their Housing Directorate.
Join the dynamic and forward-thinking team at the London Borough of Croydon
As the most populous borough in London, Croydon is undergoing significant transformation through the Mayor's Business Plan, focused on creating opportunity, strengthening financial sustainability, and improving outcomes for residents.
Background
Croydon Council has made major strides in transforming its housing services, investing over £30 million in home upgrades, launching a new repairs contact centre, and completing stock condition surveys on 70% of homes. Alongside a £166 million regeneration programme at Regina Road, the Council continues to strengthen its focus on resident safety, regulatory compliance and service excellence.
As building safety legislation continues to evolve, Croydon is seeking an experienced technical specialist to support the delivery of its Building Safety Programme and ensure compliance with the Building Safety Act 2022, Fire Safety Act 2021 and associated statutory requirements across its housing portfolio. The role will be instrumental in supporting the Council's commitment to maintaining safe homes and protecting residents.
Your New Role
As Senior Technical Building Safety Manager, you will play a key role in delivering Croydon Council's building safety strategy across its residential housing stock. Reporting to the Senior Fire and Building Safety Manager, you will provide technical leadership and assurance on building safety compliance, supporting the effective management of higher-risk residential buildings and ensuring that statutory obligations are consistently met.
You will lead on the development and maintenance of Building Safety Case Reports, support the management of Building Assurance requirements, and ensure the integrity of the Golden Thread of information across the Council's housing portfolio. Working closely with residents, contractors, regulators and internal stakeholders, you will help ensure building safety risks are identified, managed and continuously reviewed.
The role will also involve supporting the delivery of fire safety strategies, reviewing technical surveys and remediation programmes, managing specialist consultants and contractors, and contributing to resident engagement initiatives that place residents at the heart of building safety decision-making.
What You'll Need to Succeed
- Extensive knowledge of the Building Safety Act 2022, Fire Safety Act 2021, Building Regulations and wider building safety compliance requirements.

- Strong technical understanding of fire safety, structural safety, asbestos management, gas safety, electrical compliance, mechanical systems and other building-related safety disciplines.
- Experience working with regulators and external stakeholders, including the Building Safety Regulator, London Fire Brigade and professional agencies.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build confidence with residents, contractors and senior leaders.
- Proven experience managing projects, budgets, consultants and technical workstreams to successful outcomes.
- Strong analytical, planning and risk management capabilities, with the ability to interpret complex technical information and make evidence-based decisions.
