The role & about the client:
ITS (Construction Professionals South) are recruiting on behalf of an established and growing specialist subcontractor operating across the groundworks, basement and reinforced concrete frame sectors.
The business delivers technically demanding packages on behalf of leading main contractors and developers, working across both commercial and residential construction. Their projects range in value from approximately £1 million through to £10 million+, with a strong pipeline of work and continued opportunities for growth.
Due to an increasing workload, they are looking to appoint an experienced Site Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day management and successful delivery of specialist civil and structural packages.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Site Manager with experience in groundworks, basements and/or concrete frames to join a well-established contractor and take ownership of challenging projects from mobilisation through to completion.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Take responsibility for the day-to-day management of site activities across groundworks, basement and reinforced concrete frame packages.
- Plan and coordinate labour, plant, materials and subcontractors to ensure works are delivered efficiently.
- Work closely with the Project Manager and Contracts Manager to achieve programme, quality and commercial objectives.
- Manage and supervise site teams, ensuring productivity and performance remain at a high standard.
- Coordinate works with the main contractor, consultants, engineers and other project stakeholders.
- Monitor progress against the construction programme and identify potential delays or issues.
- Ensure works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and quality requirements.
- Manage and maintain site records, including daily diaries, progress reports and quality documentation.
- Review and coordinate RAMS, permits and other site documentation prior to works commencing.
- Take an active lead in maintaining high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.
- Manage site logistics and sequencing, particularly where working within constrained or complex construction environments.
- Identify technical and construction issues and work with the wider project team to develop practical solutions.
- Assist with short-term planning and look-ahead programmes.
- Attend site, progress and coordination meetings with clients and project stakeholders.
- Support the successful completion, handover and close-out of works.
- Proven experience working as a Site Manager within the construction or civil engineering sector.
- Strong experience delivering groundworks, basement and/or reinforced concrete frame packages.
- Experience working on commercial and residential construction projects.
- Ability to manage multiple trades, subcontractors and direct labour.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, temporary works and site logistics.
- Experience managing projects or packages ranging from approximately £1 million to £10 million+.
- Confident reading and interpreting construction, structural and engineering drawings.
- Strong health and safety knowledge and experience managing site compliance.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, main contractors, consultants and site teams.
- A practical, hands-on management style with the ability to solve problems and make decisions on site.
- SMSTS.
- CSCS Card.
- First Aid qualification.
- Full UK driving licence.
