Sports Coaches – Cover Supervisor – Derbyshire

We are looking for Sports Coaches to become Cover Supervisors in secondary schools across Derbyshire.

This is a fantastic opportunity for people from sporting, coaching, fitness or youth development backgrounds who enjoy working with young people and want to take their experience into education.

Previous school experience is desirable but not essential. You don't need to be a qualified teacher or a subject expert. What matters is your ability to communicate clearly, manage groups confidently and create a positive environment.

The role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will support secondary schools when teachers are unavailable. You will supervise classes, follow work provided by the teacher and ensure students remain focused and engaged.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supervising classes across secondary schools
• Following lesson plans and work provided by teaching staff
• Managing classroom behaviour positively
• Supporting students with their learning
• Taking registers and following school procedures
• Encouraging students to remain focused and on task
• Supporting students with additional needs where appropriate
• Communicating with school staff regarding any issues
• Adapting to different schools, subjects and year groups

You will not be expected to plan and deliver full lessons. Instead, you will provide the supervision, consistency and support needed to ensure learning continues.

• Teaching assistant roles
• Working with young people in community programmes, clubs or alternative provision

Experience working with secondary-aged pupils, SEN, SEMH, autism, ADHD or behaviour management would also be beneficial.
