PIP Disability Assessor – Southampton | Hybrid | Monday–Friday | £40,000–£42,000 + Bonuses

Are you an experienced healthcare professional looking for a new challenge, better working hours and a chance to use your clinical expertise differently?
As a PIP Disability Assessor, you'll use your existing clinical knowledge, assessment skills and professional judgement to understand how a person's physical or mental health conditions affect their daily living and mobility.

You'll carry out structured assessments by telephone, video and face-to-face, review medical evidence and produce clear, objective reports.

There’s no hands-on care, no nights and no weekends — but this is still a challenging role, with assessment targets, report writing and a strong focus on quality.

What will you be doing? You'll:
  • Conduct structured PIP assessments
  • Explore how health conditions affect daily living and mobility
  • Review medical evidence and supporting information
  • Apply clinical reasoning and professional judgement
  • Produce detailed, evidence-based reports
  • Manage your caseload while maintaining quality and accuracy
You won't be providing treatment or hands-on care, and you won't be making the final benefit decision. Your role is to gather and assess the relevant evidence and provide an objective report; the DWP makes the final decision.

  • Paramedics
  • Pharmacists
You'll need:
  • Active NMC, HCPC or GPhC registration
  • At least 12 months' post-registration clinical experience
  • Experience working with adults
  • Strong communication and report-writing skills
  • Good IT skills
  • Strong clinical reasoning and professional judgement
  • Full UK Right to Work
