Are you passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential?Hays Education are working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Batley to recruit a Behaviour Support / SEN Teaching Assistant for a long-term role starting on 7 September 2026.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys building positive relationships, supporting students with additional needs, and making a genuine difference to young people's education and wellbeing.
The RoleWorking closely with teachers, SEN staff, and pastoral teams, you will support students aged 11-16 who may require additional assistance due to behavioural, social, emotional, or special educational needs.You will help students remain engaged in learning, develop confidence, and achieve success both inside and outside the classroom.
What We're Looking For✅ Experience working with young people aged 11-16 within a UK secondary school, alternative provision, SEMH setting, youth work environment, or a similar educational setting within the last 2 years✅ Ability to build positive and professional relationships with students✅ A calm, resilient and patient approach when supporting challenging behaviour✅ Experience supporting students with SEN, SEMH, ADHD, Autism, or behavioural needs is highly desirable✅ Strong communication and teamwork skills✅ A genuine passion for supporting young people to succeed
ImportantThis is a secondary school position, so applicants must be comfortable working with students aged 11-16.
