Teaching Assistant

Prospero Teaching is recruiting a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support pupils in schools across the Southampton area. This role involves working alongside teachers to help create a positive learning environment and ensure pupils remain engaged, supported, and motivated throughout the school day.

You will provide a combination of 1:1 support and small‑group assistance, helping pupils who may require additional guidance with their learning, confidence, or classroom engagement. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build experience within education while making a real difference to pupils' development.

• Support teaching and learning within the classroom
• Provide 1:1 support and assist with small‑group activities
• Help pupils remain focused, engaged, and confident in lessons
• Assist with classroom resources and learning activities
• Support behaviour management and positive classroom routines
• Build positive relationships with pupils and staff
• Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
• Follow safeguarding and school policies consistently

• Experience working with children or young people
• Patient, supportive, and confident in a classroom environment
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Adaptable and responsive to varying pupil needs
• Reliable, proactive, and organised
• Backgrounds in childcare, youth work, coaching, or education welcomed

• Position: Teaching Assistant
• Location: Southampton
• Start Date: ASAP
• Working Pattern: Full‑time, term‑time
• Pay Rate: £14.25 - £15.66 per hour
• Key Stages: Primary / Secondary

• Experience working with children desirable
• SEN experience beneficial but not essential
• Safeguarding training can be provided
