SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA) – KT6

We are seeking a compassionate, resilient and dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a specialist SEN school in the KT6 area, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils access learning, develop independence and engage positively throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing tailored 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN

  • Supporting pupils to access the curriculum through differentiated activities

  • Developing positive, trusting relationships with pupils

  • Supporting communication, social development and independence

  • Encouraging engagement and participation in classroom activities

  • Implementing individual support strategies and following EHCP targets

  • Supporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation

  • Working closely with teachers, therapists and the wider SEN team

  • Assisting with classroom routines and maintaining a safe, calm learning environment

  • Providing consistent encouragement and reassurance to pupils

The Ideal Candidate

The school is looking for someone who is patient, nurturing and adaptable, with a genuine passion for working with children and young people with additional needs.

Previous experience within an SEN or specialist school is highly desirable. Experience supporting pupils with ASC, ADHD, complex needs, learning difficulties, communication needs or challenging behaviour would be particularly beneficial.

Candidates must be confident working as part of a multidisciplinary team and able to remain calm and consistent in what can sometimes be a challenging environment.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children or young people

  • SEN experience is highly desirable

  • DBS on the Update Service (UDS) – essential

  • Right to Work in the UK

  • Must not require sponsorship

  • A caring, patient and positive approach

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
