Remote-friendly

Technical Consultant - On Site, Manchester & Yorkshire regions.

Are you an experienced construction professional who loves getting stuck into technical problem-solving on site? We're looking for a Technical Consultant to join our SGIS team, supporting main contractors and sub-contractors on some of the industry's biggest projects.

You'll be the go-to technical expert for our key commercial projects, working closely with sales teams and prioritised sub-contractors to provide industry-leading support. You'll gather market insight, challenge thinking (internally and externally), and help shape our business strategy along the way.

This is a field- based role with real autonomy. You'll manage your own diary, build relationships across the industry, and have the freedom to apply your construction and product expertise to solve problems on site.

What you'll be doing

  • Providing hands-on technical support to main contractors, sub-contractors, designers, architects and consultants
  • Helping the business hit specification and sales targets through strong technical influence
  • Feeding into the development of new products and services based on what you're seeing in the market
  • Building collaborative relationships across teams to keep everyone aligned and working efficiently
  • Championing safe working practices and looking out for your own wellbeing and that of others on site
  • Developing your own technical knowledge and sharing best practice with colleagues

What we're looking for

  • A solid understanding of construction processes and best practice on site
  • The ability to explain technical concepts clearly to a range of audiences
  • Confidence reading construction drawings and interpreting technical test data

Once in the role, you'll build:

  • Strong technical acumen and networking skills
  • Great communication skills across internal and external stakeholders
  • Technical competency in line with our Company Competency Matrix

It'd be great if you also had:

  • Experience in the lightweight construction industry
  • A good understanding of building regulations
  • Third-party accreditation in a technical area (fire, acoustics, engineering, etc.)
  • Other construction industry qualifications
  • The ability to adapt to change at pace
