The Role

We are seeking a Town Planner at Planner level to join our Cardiff office. This is an office-based role (five days a week), reflecting our belief that being together in person is central to how we collaborate, mentor and deliver for our clients.

You will work across a varied caseload covering general planning, heritage matters and planning enforcement, supporting senior colleagues and clients on a range of projects across Wales and the wider region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing and submitting planning applications, including supporting statements and appraisals
  • Providing planning advice on heritage-related matters, including listed building consent and conservation area considerations
  • Assisting with planning enforcement casework, including investigations and correspondence
  • Liaising with local planning authorities, clients and other consultants
  • Conducting site visits, appraisals and due diligence
  • Monitoring planning policy and legislative changes relevant to Wales
  • Supporting senior planners and directors on larger, more complex projects
  • Contributing to the team's collaborative and sociable culture, including team days, socials and internal knowledge-sharing

About You

  • Approximately 2-3 years' relevant experience in a planning consultancy, local authority or similar environment
  • Experience across general planning, heritage and enforcement casework is highly desirable
  • Actively working towards RTPI chartership, with a clear commitment to completing the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC)
  • Strong working knowledge of the UK planning system
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A team player who enjoys collaborative working and being part of an office-based, sociable culture
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied caseload
  • Full UK driving licence (desirable, for site visits)
