Vehicle Technician – Job Specification
Job Purpose
To carry out servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and repair work to a high standard, ensuring vehicles are safe, reliable and returned to customers on time and to manufacturer and company standards.
Key Responsibilities

Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and repairs on cars and/or light commercial vehicles

Diagnose vehicle faults using manufacturer and diagnostic equipment

Complete mechanical and electrical repairs efficiently and accurately

Carry out MOT preparation work (and MOT testing if qualified)

Ensure all work is completed in line with manufacturer standards and warranty guidelines

Accurately complete job cards, reports and service documentation
-
Identify additional work required and communicate findings clearly to the Service Advisor / Workshop Controller

Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment

Adhere to health & safety regulations at all times
-
Keep technical knowledge up to date through training and manufacturer updates
Skills & Experience Required
-
NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (or equivalent)

Proven experience working as a Vehicle Technician / Mechanic

Strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

High attention to detail and quality of workmanship

Good time management and ability to meet deadlines

Full UK driving licence
Desirable (but not essential)

MOT Tester qualification

Main dealer or manufacturer-trained background

Hybrid / EV training and experience
