Weighbridge Operative
Location: Rotherham S63
Pay Rate: £15.72 per hour
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:30am – 5:30pm
Employment Type: Full-Time Temporary position for an initial 3 month contract
About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Weighbridge Operative to join a busy waste management operation in Rotherham.
The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience in a similar role, preferably within the waste management industry, although candidates from other process-based industries will also be considered.
As the first point of contact for many customers, suppliers and visitors, you will be the face of the site, so excellent customer service and communication skills are essential.
The role is varied and fast-paced, requiring someone with strong organisational skills who can manage fluctuating workloads, deal confidently with complex issues and maintain accurate records in line with legislative and company requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Accurately record all waste-in, waste-out and internal waste movements.
Ensure all relevant paperwork is completed accurately and in accordance with legislative requirements.
Ensure the dispatch of containers meets all legal and regulatory requirements.
Maintain accurate daily stock control information, including unprocessed stock, work in progress and finished stock.
Collate and provide weighbridge reports and data for site management as required.
Maintain accurate production records, including breakdowns and plant downtime.
Process information accurately to ensure invoicing details are complete and correct.
Maintain and organise weighbridge calibrations in accordance with company and Trading Standards requirements.
Communicate with customers and suppliers to ensure loads entering and leaving site are scheduled efficiently.
Carry out site reception duties, including answering incoming calls, taking and passing messages and greeting visitors.
Sign visitors in and issue the appropriate PPE.
Work in accordance with all SHEQ policies and procedures, including reporting close calls and incidents.
Complete daily environmental monitoring and record and report any concerns.
Occasionally assist with weekly sampling of site biofilters and accurately record readings.
Carry out general site duties when required, including good housekeeping, manual sorting and traffic management.
Undertake litter picking around the site and site access routes.
Support the wider site team with other duties as required.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in a weighbridge, waste management or similar process-based environment is desirable.
- Good understanding of waste regulations, Duty of Care and waste transfer documentation.
- Computer literate with the ability to accurately input and manage data.
- Good understanding of health, safety and environmental compliance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Excellent organisational and administrative abilities.
- Ability to manage fluctuating workloads and resolve complex problems.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both internally and externally.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Must live within a 20-mile radius of the plant.

Previous experience within waste management would be advantageous, but candidates with relevant experience from other process-based industries will also be considered.
