Workshop Technician (Electrical Assembly & Soldering)

Locations: Altens, Aberdeen or Bridge of Don, Aberdeen

KBM are working with a leading engineering and manufacturing business supplying bespoke electrical and subsea solutions to customers across the energy, marine and defence sectors. Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit a Workshop Technician with electrical assembly experience to join their skilled production team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with hands-on electrical knowledge, soldering experience and the ability to interpret engineering drawings. Full training will be provided on specialist products and manufacturing processes.

The Role

Working within a busy workshop environment, you will be responsible for assembling and testing high-quality electrical and mechanical products while following strict quality and safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble components from engineering kits in accordance with technical drawings and work instructions.
  • Prepare components for electrical termination.
  • Carry out soldering of connectors and assemblies.
  • Complete fibre optic terminations following defined manufacturing procedures (training provided where required).
  • Mix and cast polyurethane, polyethylene and epoxy resins in line with manufacturing processes.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and wiring schematics to ensure products are manufactured to specification.
  • Safely handle cleaning agents, primers and other workshop chemicals in accordance with health and safety procedures.
  • Maintain workshop equipment and machinery to a high standard.
  • Ensure excellent housekeeping standards are maintained throughout the workshop.

About You

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Previous experience in an electrical assembly, workshop technician or similar manufacturing role.
  • Practical electrical knowledge.
  • Previous soldering experience.
  • Good attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Strong organisational skills and a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Knowledge of ISO9001 or quality-controlled manufacturing processes.
