Compliance Contract Manager (AGW - Asbestos, Gas & Water)
Location: Portsmouth
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday

About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Compliance Contract Manager (AGW) to join the Compliance Team based in Prtsmouth.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing contracts relating to the production of risk assessments and the delivery of associated compliance actions across the Council's housing and property portfolio.
Your primary areas of responsibility will include:
- Asbestos Management Surveys
- Gas Inspections, Testing and Servicing
- Water Risk Assessments
Key Responsibilities
- Manage contracts relating to asbestos, gas and water compliance activities.
- Chair and lead monthly contract performance meetings across all three disciplines.
- Monitor contractor performance against agreed KPIs and service standards.
- Ensure meeting minutes, actions and performance records are maintained and followed through.
- Work closely with the Compliance Administrator to support contract administration.
- Assist in the specification, tendering and procurement of compliance contracts.
- Attend operational and strategic meetings as required.
- Liaise with a wide range of stakeholders including residents, leaseholders, councillors, building users and internal departments.
- Verify contractor invoices and ensure charges are in line with contractual agreements.
- Support and deputise for the Compliance Manager where required.
- Contribute to the effective delivery of wider compliance objectives and service improvements.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Experience working within one or more compliance disciplines, including asbestos, gas or water safety.
- Proven experience managing contractors and driving performance improvements.
- A strong understanding of compliance requirements and the importance of timely delivery.
- Experience producing and presenting compliance performance reports.
- Knowledge of legislation and regulations relating to asbestos, gas and water compliance.
- Experience of budget management, cost control and assessing value for money.
- Strong commercial awareness and experience verifying contractor payments and invoices.
- Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and data management systems.
- Experience using compliance management systems, or the ability to quickly learn new systems.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage and maintain large volumes of compliance data.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience leading meetings, delivering presentations and preparing professional reports.
- The ability to build positive relationships with customers, contractors and internal stakeholders while managing expectations effectively.
- Confidence to communicate with a variety of audiences, including senior managers, councillors, residents and external partners.
