We are working with a well-established independent accountancy firm with over 40 years of experience supporting small and medium-sized businesses across a diverse range of sectors.
Due to continued growth, the firm is looking for a Semi-Senior Accountant to join its Horsham office. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practice professional, whether AAT qualified, ACA/ACCA part-qualified, fully qualified or qualified by experience, to take ownership of a varied client portfolio and develop their technical and client management skills.
The role Working closely with colleagues and clients, your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
- Managing day-to-day bookkeeping using cloud-based accounting software.
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns.
- Assisting with management accounts and financial reporting.
- Preparing personal and corporation tax returns.
- Supporting clients with tax compliance and general accounting queries.
- Building strong client relationships and providing a responsive, professional service.
- Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
- Assisting with company incorporations and other business administration as required.
About you You will ideally have:
- Previous experience working within an accountancy practice.
- Good knowledge of bookkeeping, accounts preparation and VAT returns.
- An understanding of UK taxation and statutory compliance.
- Experience using accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or similar.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
- The ability to manage multiple client deadlines effectively.
- Confident communication skills and a client-focused approach.
- A proactive attitude and the ability to work independently within a collaborative team.
