SEN Teaching Assistant

Are you an SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a role where patience and consistency really matter?

We're recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants and Learning Support Assistants for education settings across Ely and wider Cambridgeshire.

You'll support children and young people with additional educational needs, helping them access learning, develop independence and feel more confident within their education setting.

The SEN Teaching Assistant role

Depending on the placement, you could support pupils with autism, ADHD, communication and interaction needs, learning difficulties, SEMH or other SEND.

Your responsibilities as an SEN Teaching Assistant may include:

  • Providing 1:1 SEN support

  • Supporting pupils within the classroom

  • Working with small groups

  • Helping pupils with communication and social interaction

  • Supporting emotional regulation

  • Using positive behaviour strategies

  • Helping pupils manage routines and transitions

  • Adapting activities alongside the class teacher

  • Encouraging independence and engagement with learning

What experience do you need?

Previous SEN education experience is valuable, but it isn't the only route into this type of classroom support.

We'd also like to hear from candidates with relevant experience in care, support work, youth work, childcare or other roles supporting children, young people or vulnerable individuals.

Most importantly, you'll need to be calm, patient, reliable and genuinely interested in supporting pupils with additional needs.
