Our client is a well-established and growing supplier of heavy plant and equipment services, supporting major construction, infrastructure, rail, utilities and energy projects across the UK.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced HGV Class 1 (C+E) Driver to join their transport team. This role involves nationwide deliveries and collections of heavy plant machinery, with regular overnight stays required.

The Role

As an HGV Class 1 Driver, you will be responsible for the safe transportation, delivery and collection of plant machinery and equipment to customer sites throughout the UK. You will ensure all loads are secured correctly, transported safely and delivered on time while maintaining compliance with transport regulations and company procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a Class 1 (C+E) vehicle transporting heavy plant and construction equipment.
  • Deliver and collect machinery from customer sites across the UK.
  • Load, secure and transport equipment in line with industry and legal requirements.
  • Carry out daily vehicle inspections and report any defects promptly.
  • Complete delivery and collection documentation accurately using digital reporting systems.
  • Ensure compliance with driver hours, tachograph regulations and road transport legislation.
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety at all times.
  • Liaise effectively with transport planners, site contacts and customers.
  • Keep accurate records including vehicle checks, timesheets and delivery confirmations.
  • Stay away overnight when required to support nationwide operations.

Requirements

  • Valid Class 1 (C+E) Licence.
  • CPC Qualification Card.
  • Digital Tachograph Card.
  • Previous HGV Class 1 driving experience.
  • Good understanding of driver hours and tachograph regulations.
  • Experience transporting heavy plant or construction equipment is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of load restraint and securing plant machinery.
  • Professional, reliable and safety-focused approach.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Right to work in the UK.
