Senior CNC Machinist (Double Day Shift)

Location: Stroud

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Salary: Up to £43,000 + Quarterly Bonus + Overtime

Shift Pattern - Double Day Shift (Rotating)

Early Shift

  • Monday - Thursday: 6:00 am - 2:00 pm
  • Friday: 6:00 am - 11:30 am

Late Shift

  • Monday - Thursday: 2:00 pm - 10:00 pm
  • Friday: 11:30 am - 5:00 pm

THOMAS Professional are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior CNC Machinist to join a well-established precision engineering manufacturer based in Stroud, working on a Double Day Shift pattern.

Overtime Rates

  • Weekdays: 1.5x basic hourly rate
  • Saturday: 1.5x basic hourly rate
  • Sunday: 2x basic hourly rate

Role Responsibilities

As a Senior CNC Machinist, your responsibilities will include:

  • Setting and operating CNC machining centres to produce high-precision components
  • Optimising machining processes to maximise efficiency and quality
  • Making programme offsets and tooling adjustments where required
  • Reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • Carrying out first-off, in-process and final inspection checks
  • Troubleshooting machining issues and supporting continuous improvement activities
  • Supporting and mentoring junior machinists when required
  • Maintaining high standards of quality, housekeeping and health & safety
  • Working closely with Team Leaders, Production and Quality teams to achieve production targets

The Person

The successful Senior CNC Machinist will ideally have:

  • Proven experience as a CNC Machinist within a precision engineering environment
  • Strong CNC setting and operating experience
  • Excellent understanding of engineering drawings and geometric tolerances
  • Experience carrying out quality inspections using measuring equipment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and support less experienced team members
  • A proactive approach with a commitment to continuous improvement
